Crisp Sugar Cookies

½ cup butter or margarine
½ cup shortening
½ cup brown sugar, packed
½ cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 tsp. Baking soda
1 tsp. Cream of tartar
½ tsp. Salt
2 ½ cups flour
Sugar

Roll into balls & roll in sugar. Flatten each is greased bottom of drinking glass. Bake at 425 degree oven 6 minutes, or until lightly browned & crackled on top.
